The reality of what it's like to be a professional trader

A Trader’s life… can be lonely. Often it's just you and monitors. News and tweets take the place of friends whispering in your ear. The life of a trader isn’t normal. It's all encompassing and takes over your mind.

This month, I encourage you to see the bigger picture- what is actually possible. See how much money you can actually make and how trading can change your financial future. Can it really change your life?

Ask the young man with the new baby that was able to buy 2 bitcoins in the last couple years. He was excited when Bitcoin (BTC) hit the $15,000 level. I got the text messages. “Hey G, you seeing this?” Of course I was! I've watched the price of BTC every hour on the hour for the last 2-3 years. I'm obsessed. Trading takes over my thoughts.

The Trader's life is fractal. That young dad now sits on 2 full bitcoins and its worth $140,000. How cool is that? His family was suggesting he should sell it. So short sighted. Thankfully, the MFG is part of his life. He has held and added to his portfolio for the soon possibility of paying cash for a house.

How amazing is that? Two bitcoins was only $30,000 recently. I begged followers to stop taking days off, stop going on trips, and push all of your time, talent and treasury into BTC. Get Rich! Few listened. The guy in the picture below did just that.

When I visited Chris Johnson, the Social Influencer and owner of the Wealth Squad, one of my first students, he went ALL-IN on BTC. Most bought so little they didn’t even notice a dent in their budget. My family sacrificed. Some things are worth the sacrifice.

Trading professionally is one of those things. I've wanted nothing else most of my adult life. I invested in real estate for that exact reason. It was never one or the other, it was one so I could do the other.

So, I missed the beach, the lake, and a few fishing trips. My wife passed on a new car, seriously who cares. Accomplishing a personal life goal of trading for a living trumped a few trips, weekends off and wasting time.

Staying on the course has created enough wealth for me to stay a professional trader and investor for the rest of my life. I never felt I had enough assets or capital previously. The last two years I knew it was my shot. Time is so short. The markets were so bullish. A perfect storm for the trader.

Trading and investing allows me the freedom to live almost anywhere. Not that I necessarily want to live anywhere. I honestly don't know where I want to live. I definitely don’t want normal, I know that. The last thing I want at this point in my life is normal. No sub-division for me anymore. It’s lake houses, river houses, mountain cabins, penthouse apartments overlooking the city, and beach condos.

It feels good to see students so dedicated to winning.

My advice- invest, trade, practice, be patient, study, and execute. Take your time, slowly working, and spend as much quality time as necessary to develop a solid foundation and skillset. You were born to be a great trader. It’s the birth right of anyone who claims it. That is the only people who make it to the MFG. Those who fell down the rabbit hole with me, and you if you find yourself reading this letter.

It’s a rabbit hole, MFG. I know, I fell down it a long time ago. I have now been trading for 24 years. I still love it. I always have. It still makes me mad, sad, excited, afraid, and sometimes all those in one day. It's always been there for me. I don’t know how to explain it. Or why.

I get text messages from my friends, who suffer the same addiction to trading, showing me how much money they made in CART or BCH last week, and I smile. It feels good. That’s the Life of a Trader.

What else has the ability to leverage your time, your talent and your energy more than the art and skillset of being a trader. Stay with it, don’t give up, and make sure you deserve what you’re asking of the market.
